CCPL Teen & Adult Summer Reading 2018

The Calloway County Public Library is pleased to announce all new Teen and Adult Summer Reading Programs.

CCPL’s Teen Summer Reading is for teens who are 13-17 years of age.No program attendance is required.Teens sign up to participate, check out and read library books to complete a CCPL Teen Summer Reading Card. Completed Teen Summer Reading Cards may then be turned in to be added to a Grand Prize drawing for a chance to win an Amazon Fire 7 Tablet. Teens may complete and submit up to five (5) Summer Reading Cards.All completed cards must be submitted no later than 9:30 am on July 28 to be included in the drawing. Prize Drawings will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 28, 2018.

The Adult Summer Reading Program is for adults age 18 and older and works just as the teen program with no program attendance required.Participants sign up, check out and read library books, to complete a CCPL Adult Summer Reading Card.Completed Adult Summer Reading Cards may then be turned in to be added to a Grand Prize drawing for a chance to win an Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet.Adults may complete and submit up to five (5) Summer Reading Cards.All completed cards must be submitted no later than 9:30 am on July 28 to be included in the drawing.Prize Drawings will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 28, 2018.

Both Teens and Adults are invited to get a head start on the summer reading by counting print books, eBooks, and unabridged audio books borrowed and read from CCPL, and CCPL’s KYLUB, and Hoopla Electronic Resources beginning June 1.

An added reading option for both programs this summer is CCPL’s Great American Read Challenge.This challenge was inspired by the outstanding Great American Read series that recently premiered on PBS.Accordingto PBSthe series “explores and celebrates the power of reading, told through the prism of America’s 100 best-loved novels (as chosen in a national survey)…the series is the centerpiece of an ambitious multi-platform digital, educational and community outreach campaign, designed to get the country reading and passionately talking about books.” Learn more about the series at https://www.pbs.org/the-great-american-read/home/

Teen Summer Readers are challenged to read twenty-five books from the Great American Read checklist provided by CCPL.Teens who complete the challenge may turn in a copy of their checklist to be added to a prize drawing for a chance to win a twenty-five dollar Amazon gift card.

For adults, the challenge is fifty books from the checklist. Adults who complete the challenge may add a copy of their checklist to a prize drawing for a chance to win a fifty dollar Amazon gift card. Prize Drawings will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018.

Registration for CCPL’s Adult & Teen Summer Reading Programs will begin on Saturday, June 9, at 10:00 am and will continue through July 21, 2018.
